 * Actually, sorry, I thought they were listed in the Write > Post panel, but apparently
   they aren’t. They do still show up under posts categorized that way, but if I
   start a new post or if I go back and edit an old one I only have the parents 
   listed.
 * Nonetheless, adding a new category under the parent and then reloading the Manage
   > Categories page did correct the issue.
