 * Font awesome should add an input type option.
    As <i class=”fa-solid fa-book-
   open”></i> or as a style element rapped around the element.
 * Like it is build now it will never work properly with links and that is when
   it is used the most.

 * I have the same issue. The cause is that the icon style is wrapped around the
   link tag and this results in the font to inherit the style from fontawesome.

   Also, as it is not embedded in the link it will not render clickable.
 * I tried adding a font-awesome icon via a reusable block into the menu as a workaround
   but that block never comes available to be included in the link.
 * Out of options as this is a plugin we rely on fontawesome to address this issue.

   like [@zoonini](https://wordpress.org/support/users/zoonini/) pointed out, it’s
   best to reach out to your hosting provider to solve this issue. Point out that
   you are missing a required HTTP method (OPTIONS) and that this limits your ability
   to work with WP. They will know what to do or will give you advise.
 * It’s great to see a supportive team behind WP! (Different from Magento)

 * [@domainsupport](https://wordpress.org/support/users/domainsupport/) Agreed,
   people should get a warning that the webserver (Apache/ Nginx) setup doesn’t
   meet the desired configuration for Gutenberg to function properly.
 * [@zoonini](https://wordpress.org/support/users/zoonini/) This is a web server
   setting called: http_methods.
    The default input normally contains: GET:HEAD:
   POST:PUT:DELETE:PATCH
 * In this case I added: GET:HEAD:POST:PUT:DELETE:PATCH:OPTIONS
 * after that I rewrote the WEB server configuration files.
 * The same applies for Apache and Nginx setups.

 * I have to come back to my first conclusion that the cookie plugin was the source
   of the problem.
    Second opinion testing gave me the final result that the errors
   are there no matter what. Even with:
 * All plugins inactive.
    Back to parent theme. Clearing all browser caches.
 * I will check if I can finally find the root of this error and report here.

 * Thanks.
 * I might have been to quick to judge.
    The system now keeps on giving me the errors
   even with all Plugins deactivated and swapping back to the parent twenty-twenty-
   two theme.
 * So that indeed rules out the option that this module is responsible for this.
 * .htaccess is the default so I’m not sure what else could be causing this.
 * Greetings

 * Hi Oliver,
 * My previous reaction is under moderation so that can take a while.
    This new
   reply without urls will make it without moderation I guess.
 * You were right and pointed me in the right direction. I’m running “Complianz
   | GDPR/CCPA Cookie Consent” plugin and that one blocks cookies in the admin section
   of WP.
 *     ```
       Status
       405
       Method Not Allowed
       VersionHTTP/2
       Transferred407 B (224 B size)
       Referrer Policystrict-origin-when-cross-origin
       ```
 * So disabling this plugin solved the errors at once.
 * However I still do get the messages that I’m not allowed or alter the navigation
   and that changes made will not be saved. But they seem to be only messages/ notices.
   I can save and see changes being applied.
 * Kinda worked around it.
    I was working with my created child theme so what I
   did was revert the menu page list removal by activating the parent theme. After
   that the original menu was back. I edited that menu and ignored (all) the notices
   when I got the option to convert the menu to page links. After the changes (removals)
   in the menu I activated the child theme again to continue working on it. It’s
   not Ideal but it seems you just can’t delete the navigation contents and create
   new content. You need to convert the existing version first.
 * The permission role for the Administrator to work on theme option (menu) is present
   in the database: “edit_theme_options” under _wp_user_roles (options table).
   So having the right permissions can’t be the issue.
 * It seems to be a Gutenberg issue.
 * The error seems to lie here:
    [packages/block-library/src/navigation/edit/index.js](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/blob/ce8c27a52614126882c59e6960805f0dd91e2518/packages/block-library/src/navigation/edit/index.js)
 * At around line #436 you can see the conditions for this message to appear.
 *     ```
       ! ref &&
       hasResolvedCanUserCreateNavigationMenu &&
       ! canUserCreateNavigationMenu
       ```

 * In the file: wp-includes/js/dist/block-library.js I found the same message around
   line #26322 that results in #26366 notice after the conditions are met.
 * It shows the same conditions. It seems the administrator doesn’t meet the desired
   permissions to “create a menu” or the ref (menu ID) is missing.

 * I have the exact same issue as described on a whole new install.
    Using twenty
   twnty-two theme.
 * The standard navigation just lists every page created what is really silly and
   not useful.
    So I figured out how to adjust the order via the pages but hiding
   them from the menu is impossible so I decided to delete the automatic pages menu
   as I cannot edit it. Upon deleting the group I have no option to create new menu
   items. Even in a new menu I cannot edit anything. I just get the permission error
   over and over.
 * It simply doesn’t work.

 * In the end I was able to work around the issue for a customer that asked my help
   for this issue but I would just not recommend this plugin as so many people were
   having the same issue over and over again.
