 * 2.1 is broken. It has security flaws. That should be enough of an answer.

 * Fair enough.
 * Anyway his only example was negated by Otto42.
 * I don’t want to say darage isn’t right. But his examples are poor and so may
   his conclusion.
 * I may have a better example: The WPDB class stores the names of the tables. So
   far okay. But why isn’t the table_prefix also stored in this class? Why do the
   user of WPDB have to set the table name members directly from outside of the
   class and not with methods – or *gasp* why not setting prefix and table names
   during construction of WPDB. Thats REALLY poor design!

 * No he hasn’t given any example. He was referencing to [functions ](http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.functions.php)
   not [classes](http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.oop.php). If his critique
   was about the object model, he should critisize a class like WP_User or WPDB.
   It is totally legetimate to have functions and classes coexist in the same domain
   of code – and so does WordPress. This is not necessarily bad design by default.
 * It may be that darages intention was to further generalize his critique to say“
   The WordPress API is rotten”. Well, in my point of view this is a statement that
   needs more examples than pointing to two functions.

 * > … I want to say whoever designed this API has no concept of what object oriented
   > design is and has never heard of objects.
 * And this is because of what? Critisizing the API in a general way isn’t really
   helpful nor does it show your competence on this sector. How about an example?

 * The minimum requirements for WordPress were updated in the Codex:
 * [http://wordpress.org/about/requirements/](http://wordpress.org/about/requirements/)
 * No need to blame someone about that except you.
 * Missing former WordPress versions since 2.0.2 is known to every developer because
   it was mentioned several times on the hackers mailing list. Obviously this doesn’t
   mean that they fix this in the near future. Send an mail to the hackers mailing
   list ([http://comox.textdrive.com/pipermail/wp-hackers/](http://comox.textdrive.com/pipermail/wp-hackers/))
   to emphasize this issue.

 * Okay, I don’t ask.
 * There may be a way to accomplish your task but it’s not easy and involves in
   depth knowledge of WordPress and SQL. So based on your skills I would recommend:
   Don’t even ask 🙂
