In reply to: [WooCommerce] leave site? changes you made may not be saved.Same issue here – this is crippling my ability to do any editing on my site. With Divi and Woocommerce running, the issue is quadrupling the time it takes pages to load when I’m in the back end.
This is really pretty shameful, WordPress!
Can anyone guide me to a ‘safe’ downgrade method to a previous version of WordPress that doesn’t have this infuriating issue?

In reply to: [Twenty Nineteen] Featured images are huge on desktopMany thanks guys, it worked for me too – but I’m now foxed by a dark filter that overlays all the header images I’m using. If anyone finds out how to get a handle on that I’d much appreciate hearing about it.
And indeed, any other nifty means of customising the 2019 theme!
Cheers, Mark
[Edit: Yes, I have unchecked the box that says ‘Apply a filter to featured images using the primary color’ – and I simply get a dark, muddy filter applied instead of a coloured filter – see the disappointing result at http://learningclouds.co.uk ]
Oh, wow – I posted that edit before I say your reply @ronthewebguy – thank you so much, I’ll try it now!

Worked for me too – thanks for posting, Ron. It was worth the fuss after all!

In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] Scheduled backups not workingI was let down, when I needed a database backup: found that only one backup had been taken, months ago, when I first installed BackupWordPress.
Not being in a mood to spending a day learning how to run remote cron jobs, I found a product that works: UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore.

In reply to: [WordPress Online Booking and Scheduling Plugin – Bookly] Will.Never.Use.ThisHi Ladela,
Thanks for your prompt reply – it is appreciated.
Of course, I understand that almost everyone offers a crippled version of their plugins these days – that’s well understood: you have to tempt people to try the software with enough functionality for them to get used to it and consider spending money. And your plugin is very good, I’m sure. It seems to me that by preventing the user connecting to a Google calendar at all might be shooting yourself in the foot though: if we’re prevented from being able to make any use of the product whatsoever, there is no opportunity to show it to the client and prepare them to pay for ‘yet another’ plugin: what they cannot see in action *at all* they have no ability to assess.
I apologise for my outburst: but if had known I would not be able to make any use of the product whatsoever – if you had warned me of that upfront (in other words, that there is no ‘Lite’ version, maybe I could have spent my 40-minute install attempt comparing your product with others.
Me too, please – my whole use of ninja forms depends on subtracting ‘end time’ from ‘start time’ . . .

In reply to: [WooCommerce] multiple shop pagesPerfect answer for me, Lorro – I will have one page with loads of houses to let, and a few other pages containing three or four service offerings each.
(BTW – if anyone knows of good lettings plugins, or property maintenance plugins (or addons), I’d be very grateful to hear about them!)
Nope: logged out but normal site still there: http://www.madseminars.com

In reply to: 500 Internal Server ErrorHorrible, scary 500!
On ‘Go Live’ day, every time six editors tried to create a page at http://madseminars.com , they got smacked with a 500 error. I had a similar problem with another caching plugin, wp-super-cache – and binned it: it was also giving me a forest of HTTP errors.
I think my next move will be to write a plugin that deactivates any caching plugins the second you go into the Admin panel . . .
Thought I was in for a day of torture, possibly a fresh install from the ground up.
Started going through my plugins, one by one, deactivating and then deleting. Got to ZenCache (yep, found it right down there with the ‘Z’s!!) – didn’t even deactivate it, just disabled it from within the plugin setting – bingo – no more 500 error.
Haven’t got on to ZenCache yet to remonstrate, but will update you when I do.
(WP 411, Hueman theme with child. Here’s a list of the plugins I’m using: http://madseminars.com/index.php/plugins/ )

In reply to: [Hueman] Background Image Under Text – Full Width (Hueman)Hi BD – thanks so much for your answer!
I’ve just tried a ‘kludge’, consisting of taking a copy of all the sidebar images and making them transparent, then putting the transparent images where the original ones were: nothing!
But the search and replace in style.css does do the job – and does not seem to break anything, to my surprise. (Search ‘#fff’ and replace with ‘none’.)
Now to do it properly and ‘titrate’ the 1,585 lines of code in style.css to track down the three items I need!

In reply to: [eCommerce Product Catalog Plugin for WordPress] Good Idea, Half-FinishedFair comment, Ndre,
I apologise: I should have, as you say, hit the support forum instead of making a knee-jerk negative review. I was just so disappointed with the result. Here’s a picture of the display: as you can see, the green box obscures half the image, and of 12 parameters that relate to the dog, only four display:
http://picpaste.com/ecommerce-display-01-2DHa0FBB.png
Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant by ‘lightbox’ – I was expecting a ‘zoom on hover’ effect similar to that used on eBay – perhaps you mean the ‘hyperlink on hover’ that clicks through to the full ‘product’ profile.
Now, I had to deactivate all plugins to resolve a media library problem – and your product catalog now will not display any page at all! My next move was going to be to export the products, delete the plugin and reinstall – but the button you mention in the help documents: “The export feature is located in Product Settings > Product CSV screen” – does not exist! And I REALLY don’t want to have to re-create all my products manually!
Cheers,
Mark

In reply to: [eCommerce Product Catalog Plugin for WordPress] Severely Broken!Hi, thanks for your response,
Here’s the page containing the problem ‘product’ display (in fact, our product is the dogs we’re re-homing).
http://creativenetworks.org.uk/oprescue/index.php/dogs/
As you can see, although we have 12 parameters, the web layout only displays four, and the green overlay obscures the image. Is there a way, say through CSS, to access the detailed design of the layout?
I have another problem (sorry!) in that, whilst I managed to set the ‘product image’ on the first item, when I try to do that on the second item, the Media Library popup simply goes into a wait state, with a spinning disc, forever. Any ideas?
Many thanks for your help,
Markj

In reply to: Error saving media attachmentOK, even more confused – it seems to work now without FTPing the images beforehand – maybe it is just a caching issue?
(Or maybe setting wp-content to 777 sorted it – will we ever know?)
