The new versions were causing too many problems (there were others beyond the spam issue) and I wasn’t getting any support here at the support forum, so this was the simplest fix. * Forum: Spam” and wait a bit, and get a message that says “592 comments permanently deleted,” but the total number of spam comments only goes down from 592 to 591. * I try again and same thing: “591 comments permanently deleted,” but the total is now just 590. * So the button is working now, but only clearing out one spam comment at a time, which is interesting. * Forum: where I’ve been trying to place the code. But I’ve modified a lot of the theme files at this point, so I probably just wont bother with any future theme updates. (I’ve created child themes before, but I was just too lazy this time around.)
