   that works is writing outside of WordPress, copying and pasting, and doing the
   formatting in WordPress (duh…LOL). I still sometimes get hung up, but the less
   time I spend in the article itself, the better. I wish someone could figure out
   what causes it. I have a feeling more people suffer along with it as a quirk 
   and never say anything.

   and have stumbled across your posts looking for answers. It I type too much content
   in one post (using gutenberg blocks), the page stutters so much that I can’t 
   edit it. I have to continually close out and get back in and edit in short bursts
   before it drives to a halt again. I do not think you are exaggerating or experiencing
   something that others like me also haven’t experienced. What makes it so weird
   is it IS text related. I now create content elsewhere and paste it in because
   trying to type gets overwhelming at about 1000 words. I don’t know the character
   count. I hope you’re faring better now than you were!
