Only way I could make it to work is either turn-off wp cache plugin or turn-off javascript API option for tubepress. I choose the later, only disadvantage is some features won’t work without javascript API. Upgraded to 3.8 few days back and suddenly thousands of spams user registrations (without email/ip address). I can’t locate the IP address, something dangerously wrong with 3.8 version. When my published posts crossed beyond a number (approx 6300) it stopped expanding to posts. I did lot of experiments and I can tell you it has something to do with number of published posts.
