 * Your site works well for me also.

 * DOH!!! Never mind, I saw what you pointed out to me! The Admin has switched this
   off and we will see if this has fixed the problem. Thanks again samboll.

 * Thank you very much for your speedy reply, samboll!
 * Is this the same as the _WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically_
   option in the Admin Dashboard? That’s what I thought at the beginning so I asked
   the Admin a couple of weeks ago to set it to “Off” but that still doesn’t change
   this “anomaly”.
 * If what you are suggesting is different, could you let me know where this setting
   is? I will notify the blog’s Admin.
 * Thanks again!

 * Thanks, war59312! I have installed it and it works very well. Since I posted,
   only one spam made it through but was held in moderation. Fed the bloody thing
   to SpamKarma and Akismet and all is well in the my blog once again. :^D
 * Oh and, btw, by default that plugin is set at 21 days. Thought it was a bit short
   so I lengthened it to 30 in the plugin editor.

 * I’ve heard that WP 2 doesn’t use cache at all or at least doesn’t use cache in
   the same way as WP 1.5.x did. Three lines in the plugin code talks about the
   cache:
    – `global $cache_settings;` – `$foo = get_settings('comments_notify');//
   make sure it's cached` – `$cache_settings->comments_notify = 0;`
 * Maybe that’s the problem.
 * I really want this plugin to work too. It worked extremely well in WP 1.5.2 for
   me and I thought it was heaven but now that I’m on WP 2, I still get notified
   that I posted a comment! Talk about short term memory problems if I can’t remember
   that! ;^)
 * As for the link to notes.mk-notes.com/scnf/ the website doesn’t exist anymore
   not in the form I was expecting anyhow.

 * dpaulin, you have to upload the BB decompressed folder to your WordPress installation
   on the server where your blog is hosted not on your computer. You’ll have to
   use an ftp client to drop the BB folder in your WordPress plugins folder like
   all the other plugins you have installed just like HandySolo says.
 * Path is like I posted before:
 * _Your WordPress directory/wp-content/plugins_

 * Found it!
 * For anyone wondering like I did about the comment plugin that disables commenting
   on entries past 21 days, it’s Auto-Close Comments and it’s available here:
 * [http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Auto_shutoff_comments](http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Auto_shutoff_comments)
 * Works fine in WP 2.02!

 * dpaulin, you should see in your WordPress installation a folder called wp-content.
   You will find the plugins folder in there. That’s where you’ll drop your BadBehaviour
   folder.
 * I earlier posted about having to use the Terminal perhaps to decompress the BB
   plugin and that is not the case. I decompressed it and uploaded and dropped the
   BB folder with no problems whatsoever and it is running fine right along side
   Akismet and SpamKarma.
 * Also I suspect that the trackback problem I posted about last night was caused
   by either someone going into the web host server and re-sending those old trackbacks
   all over again or he/she got in somehow into my WP installation and resent the
   notifications.

 * Darn! Can anyone help me? I seem to recall I came across a WordPress plugin that
   automatically shut down commenting in entries older than an amount of time entirely
   to the blog owner’s discretion.
 * I saw that the other day been looking all over to find it and simply can’t. I
   don’t even remember the name!… *rolleyes*

 * Ok. Short night’s sleep. I added last night the IP address to my .htaccess file
   to block the trackback guy but he is still back this a.m.! Funny thing that IP
   says it’s from the web host. Anyway.
 * I am downloading Bad Behaviour but am on a Mac and I can’t understand this _If
   you are unpacking the zip file directly on a Macintosh or Unix-based computer
   using the command-line unzip utility, be sure to use the -a option, e.g. unzip-
   a bad-behavior-1.2.1.zip._ What the heck?… I need Terminal to decompress a file
   here? I don’t know how to use Terminal!

 * Thanks charle97. I copy/pasted the code in BBEdit, saved it as switch-off-comments.
   php, uploaded and dropped into the plugins folder but I can’t activate it because
   WP 2.0.2 doesn’t list it in the plugins list…
 * Anyway I’m completely knackered so this will have to wait.

 * Same thing here. I upgraded to WP 2.0.2 last weekend because I was still using
   WP 1.5.2 and with the number of spam trapped in moderation queue on Wednesday
   and Thursday thought it was because that WP version was now unsafe.
 * [http://mhc.insidestretch.com/2006/05/18/well-isnt-this-lovely/](http://mhc.insidestretch.com/2006/05/18/well-isnt-this-lovely/)

 * I had already set my blog to members-only commenting but that never stopped the
   trapped spam but before a week ago it wan’t too bad. Now it’s even worse. I installed
   Akismet with WP 2.0.2 and while awed by the number of spam it caught, it isn’t
   foolproof.
 * Tonight I deleted about 20 to 30 supposed trackbacks that all have the same characteristic:
   they cite a couple of sentences from my article, there is no link to any outside
   website. The link takes you back to another one of my articles or it links back
   itself.
 * One very nice feature on the next update of WP would be an add-on that would
   shut down all comments (and trackbacks) in all pages and articles of a blog in
   case of emergencies like tonight, if that could be possible.
 * I went, at some time, to my Admin CP to close down comments in the Options/Discussion
   but was totally bummed out to see the mention of _(These settings may be overridden
   for individual articles.)_ Big whoop! I have over 600 articles in there…
 * So it’s late and I certainly won’t be installing anything else tonight to secure
   my blog but I’ll be looking tomorrow morning for an Akismet helper for sure.
   If the blog is still there tomorrow that is. LOL

 * I tried what was suggested in that post:
 * [http://wordpress.org/support/topic/20950](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/20950)
 * and I got a parse error. One thing is for sure, since that post, Safari has been
   updated and probably makes the workaround obsolete, perhaps?
 * Or the problem could come from the theme I use. Whatever the reason for this,
   I am giving up. I’m satisfied for now that the clickable smilies show up for
   commenting and can only hope that Safari, the Dark Maple theme and WordPress
   talk to and agree with each other in future versions.
 * Either that or I post using Firefox, an old version of Firebird or Camino.
 * BTW. This problem also occurs in Shiira 1.1 and OmniWeb 5.1.1 (v563.51).
 * Thanks podz for your help! :^)

 * Well it didn’t work, I’m sad to say. But I think I know what the problem is.
   It’s a little too late for me to try out some stuff right now but suffice it
   to say that I use Safari as a web browser and I just stumbled on this How To
   here:
 * [http://wordpress.org/support/topic/20950](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/20950)
 * Why do I suspect Safari? Because just now I went to my blog, logged in and pretended
   I was going to post and, yep! sure enough, the smilies were all there waiting
   for me to click on them so they could be inserted in a post…
 * So tomorrow I will be looking into that solution and see if I can’t get this
   to work.
