 * I think it may be because your .htaccess file is not writeable. You can check
   this by looking at Options -> Permalinks . If under the ‘Optional’ heading you
   see a note saying your .htaccess file is not writeable then you need to change
   its permissions to make it writeable.
 * Note this is the .htaccess file in the your blog’s root directory (i.e the same
   one that contains files such as wp-layout.css) and may be different to the .htaccess
   file for your website.
 * You may have to delete and recreate the pages you made earlier to get it working.
 * There is no problem with the url being a directory. WordPress uses the information
   it stores in the .htaccess file to redirect the ‘directory’ link to the page.
