 * Yes it should be conditional on whether you are updating existing users. But
   nevertheless it makes sense to be there. it is difficult to check to see if a
   new username is going to collide with an existing one!

 * If you are importing new users, and some of the list is rejected because the
   username already exists, there is no notification. The only way to find the people
   that you missed is to manually compare the file with the screen output. I would
   think this should show up as an error: “username already exists” or “email address
   already exists”.

 * Any reason this message is not showing?
 * I just did a default install of WordPress 5.4.2. I ran the following file through
   twice, with Update Existing Users set to “no”. The first time it imported all
   3. The second time it imported nothing, but it displayed no errors. The only
   plugin other than yours is Loginizer.

 * No, I see the following when the import runs:
 * Importing users
 * Ready to registers
 * First row represents the form of sheet
 * Inserting and updating data
 * And then I see the list of imported users. The skipped users (duplicate userID)
   don’t show up. This particular output is from the front end page, but I got the
   same result from the admin console. There is a button to see the results, but
   that is just the user screen. Am I missing a setting or perhaps looking in the
   wrong place?
 * In case it was not clear, I am NOT updating existing users.

 * You make a very good point about the backend. That could easily be improved.
   I confess I am on a shared server, so I have no right to expect performance.
   That said, here are some stats:
 * We have 216 user names.
 * If I pull up the entire user list on one page in Users->All Users, it takes 6.5
   seconds. I can do a bulk action by clicking all of the names and submitting once.
   Very efficient!
 * If I pull up your invite-anyone page, it loads with the entire list of users
   in 6.1 seconds. Click click click submit I’m done.
 * If I try to add users via the search box on the Groups->Edit page, it takes 3.5
   seconds to come up with choices for that one pattern, which I then can select
   one, click, and then return to the search box to type in another name. Really
   cumbersome.
 * It would be great to have (somewhere, anywhere) an opportunity to view a list
   of all nonmembers of a group with a bulk action to add them. But hey, I’m sure
   the Buddypress team has bigger priorities than my little feature request.
 * I started programming in the 70s. I anticipated many changes in computing in
   those first decades. But never in a million years did I believe that one day
   there would be worldwide teams of developers producing software products, code
   libraries, plugins etc. free for anyone to use or extend. Cheers to you and all
   who do this good work.

 * [@venutius](https://wordpress.org/support/users/venutius/) when you say the current
   version, do you mean the current version of buddypress? Or wordpress?
 * I am holding off on upgrading both until I know what is affected. This is a really
   useful plugin, and I can’t find anything comparable to replace it with.
