I’m wondering if it would help if I just set up an entirely new blog starting with 3.0.1 in case somewhere along the line of upgrades something went wrong. At first I thought it was the plugin and tried a different one, with the same result. The last automatic upgrade that worked was from 2.9.2 to 3.0, since then I’ve had nothing but trouble installing plugins or going through automatic upgrades. Since the problem is the same for plugin upgrades etc. I’ll try editing the .htaccess file as you suggested, KasperSG. Unfortunately, after installing and activating the plugin I get a ‘500 internal server error’ that doesn’t let me navigate in the WP ACP anymore unless I access the server via TP and delete the plugin folder manually.
