 * nevermind. i did some better searching and found it is related to minification.
   no chinese hax involved.

 * go to content.php search for thumbnail and delete the block of code that has 
   thumbnail in it 7 times.
 * now the duplicate images for every post are gone.

 * how do i delete the featured image thumbnail in the blog index and in the single
   posts? So many themes cause this issue when I install them.
 * I end up with duplicate images for every post.

    I have a backup of my database but I have no idea how
   to recover it if something goes wrong. I just knew that I was screwed. I emptied
   my cache and they showed back up. Damn. Scared me when it happened right after
   the upgrade.
