 * I am aware of the API error but that seems to be the case with rogue plugins 
   already on pre-existing wordpress blogs. Just wanted to stress again that this
   is a new install. So not sure what the problem here is.
 * I am using 1&1.com as my host, not a free hosting provider, and have never had
   any problems with my hosting service. Installation of the blog was a breeze.
