I think I fixed the issue by rebuilding the site. I think there was an issue happening in the database as first I tried setting up a test site and just putting fresh copies of all plugins but kept the database. Then I did it a second time but didn’t transfer the database, and voila it worked. I had a similar issue and they blamed it on Wordfence, one of the most popular security softwares. Now you have a very similar issue, and it’s blamed on the caching plugin. THIS SOFTWARE IS EXTREMELY SLOW. People need the caching software otherwise it’s not feasible to use. And for me what it’s doing is messing up something with the canonical urls. With the www works, and without it doesn’t( across browsers). We’ve been using this plugin for a long while and had no issue. So not sure if it’s compatibility with the new version of WordPress that’s the issue? * We have GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress hosting package, and initially toggling off and on which was the primary web url worked (without www / with). But it’s happened again now.
