 * Found Koljas post which told me how to fix ist.
    Simply enter the admin page 
   where the database will be updated.

    Same problem as pvds here under WP 3.8.1 Frontend output seems ok, though.

 * I found a workaround.
    I used the “edit matches” button above the matches to 
   add matches. Using the link on top of the administration page (add matches) works
   fine.
