esmi – the one site that I’m now roadtesting the fixes on – and did every single instruction you gave me was a clean install from the beginning of the week. I didn’t need any plugins for the theme, so I didn’t activate any. I was about to add my image stuff that I love to use today, because the theme is gorgeous – but switching to twenty-eleven made no difference, twenty-twelve resulted in a blank page.
There’s three posts there – no special stuff in any of the posts, at all. I’m really at a loss to explain it, but the javascript error I listed is SPECIFICALLY to do with the menus and widgets.
The menus aren’t popping out when I hover down the list in the dashboard either.

Anyway, rolling back now – I’ll keep an eye on it.

Also, I’m not throwing in the towel to be a pain in the butt and I appreciate all the time you’ve put in, but it’s just something I can’t keep messing with right now. If I turn up anything on my travels, I’ll come back and let peeps know, but otherwise, thank you esmi, and I hope that error might help with people finding what’s going wrong.

esmi – I’ve ran out of time. I’m going to roll this back until I see a solution to this.
I can’t afford for my sites to be uneditable, and neither can my clients.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I’ve gone through just about every variation I can think of to fix this, including doing a clean install and moving my wp-config file. It’s stupid – but that javascript error is still throwing itself up.

Anyway, thanks. I’ll roll back, i I can, and watch the forums.

No. Because I never enabled plugins on this site. I’d just put it up a couple of days ago. No plugins enabled (but I did delete the contents of the plugin folder).
Thanks for the suggestions, I’m still poking it.

That error is still there though, after deleting and copying everything back.

One, we’ve resolved by adding the debug line because she used Bulletproof security IN THE PAST. It’s the oddest thing, and I’m still getting reports in that it’s happening on upgrade – so much so in fact, I’ve told everyone on my server that haven’t to hang fire on upgrading. I trust WordPress implicity, but if it’s producing 20/30/40 tech support tickets for me and I’m a one man hosting company, I’m sure it’s causing a nightmare for lots of people.
And before anyone suggests it’s my server – it’s spread over several servers at three different data centres. I don’t think any of them are configured exactly the same πŸ™‚

Yes. I compeltely wiped my themes file, my plugins file, uploaded a clean version of twentyeleven, then wiped everything back to the wp-content and wp-config file and uploaded it all.
The only bit I didn’t do was the upgrade, because I tried that first when I thought perhaps the upgrade was wrong.
It’s still giving me that as an error on two of them, even when uploading.

Hi Esmi – done all that – been trying to work though all of the troubleshooting I use to track down holes when hacking too. I’ve even imported a site to clean install and it’s having fits. And this is over two up to date, different servers, both running PHP5.
The error console is giving me this:
Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method ‘on’ – common.js:167

Looks like something is wrong with my Javascript on the install?

And now we’re adding ‘plugins can’t be selected en masse from the tick box at the top’

I suppose I am one of those “assholes” being referenced, though I would prefer something like “condescending bastard”, but I suppose it isn’t Christmas everyday.

    I’m apologising once again, but….
I’m amused by this – I get the feminine version all the time.

Look, I’m sorry – the kids are sick, I’m having to work late, and I was worried my only ‘non work’ site that I actually care about was about to blow up, like my poetry one did. Phishing scams are not fun – I’m STILL recieving hate mail about it. So I’m sensitive and tierd.
I apologise unreservedly. Feel free to flog me with wet noodles or whatever.

Yes, I have c-panel. I’m a reseller account so I also have limited WHM – just never needed to grab logs.
I’d be grateful for any information on getting logfiles though, and once again, I’m sorry for actually being the ass.

Sorry – I’ve had a very long day and didn’t expect quite such abrupt answers – nor people visiting my blog with…less than helpful suggestions.
Lesson one – I’m sensitive when tierd.
Lesson two – this is a great community – thank you for hosting it, and I apoligise for any hassle I’ve caused.

I apologise for the ‘assholes’ comment (hence why I editted it straight away) – it was ill advised. Its a long day, I’m sore, can I apologise, than everyone and move on?

And neh, you’re not – got some pretty rude comments posted on my own site – I just thought I’d check policy on how things are handled over here – I was wrong,(offended – though not as much by you guys as some….strange people that came to my blog) tierd and dumb.

As an FYI though, my poetry site was hacked. Makes me sensitive to anything looking redirecty. And it was a completley straight html site.

Thank you, all for your answers.
Would anyone mind telling me how to grab the logfiles from AWstats in text? Or is a copy and paste job?

    (@kaiberie)

Ok..I’ll rephrase my question. WHY would there be partially formed URL’s showing up, with trackback and search strings from wordpress in my error logs?

I am asking because I’m concerned someone’s trying to do something with my wordpress blog. I don’t know why its converting some of the slashes to partial code either, which is the other reason I’m questioning this.

And I can’t, currently, produce a plain text logfile for you, I’m sorry – its from AWstats and I don’t have anything that converts it to text.
If your answer is ‘what the hell is this’ please don’t reply. I’d like helpful answers, please.

    Thanks for your time
    Kai
