I’m trying to use the translation files too but you need to change the file extension. Currently it is event_espresso.pot (Microsoft POWERPOINT)so not too helpful when you click on it! Change to .po and it works with poedit OK. This POT extension version is in the plugin language directory and Seth’s link above.

I object very strongly to having an outside agent re-writing files on my personal computer without my permission – localhost in this case. That’s an ethical matter too. I’m not against auto-updates – with the user’s permission. It is hard enough trying to keep Google etal out of my files these days and automatic updates can become an invasion of privacy when imposed. If I want to upgrade I will, but I like to test first as I do development work too. Are you 100% sure a hacker won’t get into this update system one day? Nanny doesn’t always know best and she deleted some code I’d written on my own computer for my own use.
PS the plugins don’t work – see the plugin pages – only hard coding the config seems to work. I lost my code relying on a plugin to stop updates (twice).

In reply to: [Update Control] Update Out Of ControlSame here, only I’ve been using core file to test some ideas before making a theme function to do it the right way (walker class). My changes were overwritten and menu broke on live site too. Plugin doesn’t seem to work so have added code to wp-config and theme as per : WP own code Here’s hoping for next time . . . Not everybody is just a blogger so do need to turn this off please.
