Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: certain dashboard functions not workingSo it’s a “dashboard-wide” issue. I find the same problem when I use basic wordpress functions, like:
/wp-admin/edit.php
when I try to use “quick edit” on a post/page, I get this:
wp-admin/edit.php#
but nothing happens. The function doesn’t do anything.Need help on this, please!
I’ve tried looking through Webmaster tools, but can’t see any specific information on this issue. Could it just be a matter of waiting for Google to re-index/re-crawl the site??
Ya, I haven’t changed the settings; they’re the same as before.
Here’s two examples:
http://www.universaltheosophy.com/jewels-lotus/the-gossamer-thread/
and
http://www.universaltheosophy.com/author/paracelsus/page/56/In page source I do see that SEO has added a “nofollow” to the author page, and in the first link the description from SEO is there. But… why isn’t google recognizing these? I’ve tried to get them to re-crawl, etc., but nothing seems to change. So is there some setting I’m missing, or some step that I need to take to make sure google recognizes what SEO has done? I really don’t understand what’s going wrong here…

In reply to: [WP Super Cache] changes host user, now seeing error messageSolved it. Had to go into wp-config.php and edit the following:
define( 'WPCACHEHOME', '/home/*USER1*/universaltheosophy.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/' ); //Added by WP-Cache Manager
and change it to:
define( 'WPCACHEHOME', '/home/*USER2*/universaltheosophy.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/' ); //Added by WP-Cache Manager
Then re-activated WP-Supercache and all is well. This error had also effected by redirection plugin, which had stopped working, but once this code in wp-config was changed, the redirections began working again.

In reply to: [Better Delete Revision] Featured image deletedThis worries me a little. I’m about to delete 3476 old revisions, but I really don’t want to lose the featured images. Can anyone verify that this is indeed an issue with this plugin?

In reply to: [WP Category Permalink] Error on loading post with 2 categoriesOne possibility, though I don’t know how to verify this, is that the plugin might not work with “w3 total cache”
Same issue here.
Same issue here. My question is: why, when the gallery on our page only shows 6 thumbnails, does the site load a thumbnail for every single image in the gallery (over 200 in our case)? Our site is extremely slow right now because over 200 images have to be loaded each time, whether or not someone actually uses the gallery or not (gallery is used through the sidebar widget). If only the six thumbnails that are actually visible were loaded, it would be much, much faster.
Also, to test the site, I removed the widget and deactivated nextgen, yet when I speed test the page, it still requires those thumbnails to load. Anyone know why this is?

In reply to: Custom sidebar for category children?eable… I tried using your conditional statement but can’t seem to get it to work (I’m a newb to php).
I replaced:
<?php get_sidebar(); ?>
with:
<?php if (is_category( array( ‘jewel’, ‘lotus’))) {
get_sidebar(‘JewelsLotus’);
} else
if (is_category( array( ‘almanac’ ))) {
get_sidebar(‘almanac’);
} else {
get_sidebar();
} ?>Is there something I’m doing wrong, or something more I need to do?
Did a bunch of testing today, trying to isolate the problem, and it’s definitely with the toggles. All other similar features operate perfectly (i.e. accordions, etc.).
I don’t think it’s a matter of ‘levels of content’, so far as I can tell, since the accordions, for example, operate in the same way as the toggles but come out in the print view just fine.
I also found that changing the toggles from ‘fancy’ to ‘minimum’ didn’t always work, so the problem seems to be with toggles in general.Hope this helps. I really love the service! Hope we can work this little thing out – if we can, then printfriendly will serve all our printing needs and alternative device reading needs 🙂
A good example of a page that works perfectly the way we want it to is here:
http://www.universaltheosophy.com/legacy/movements/western-transmission/neoplatonists/Might have figured out the main problem we’re having: there are two kinds of toggles – ‘fancy’ and ‘minimum’ – and it looks like printfriendly works perfectly with ‘minimum’, but not with ‘fancy’. Fixing that might be all that’s needed to solve our issue.
Thanks.
What we really need is for the full page to be picked up, whereas the example you link to (done with javascript off) is just picking up but one part of the overall page (solely the content of but one of the toggles) – we’d want the whole page with all toggles included.
What we’ve done is setup our pages using Header styles such that printfriendly uses them to create bookmarks in the pdf files – so each toggle creates a ‘chapter’ in the overall pdf. It’s worked nicely on some pages, but not all.
Hope that helps in what you’re doing with the update. Thanks for the support 🙂

In reply to: TinyMCE AccordionThanks for the reply. That sounds like it could be a much better solution. It’s beyond my capabilities and understanding to implement though. But I’m willing to spend the time learning, if you can point me in the right direction or help get me started. How would I go about setting something like this up?
