 * That’s part of the Visual Website Optimizer code snippet. I think they are using
   it to “hide” the variation when doing a/b testing. This code is in use across
   the site (including on the template for the blog). I don’t think this is the 
   cause of why news is blank but blog is not (given that they are using exactly
   the same template).
 * I can’t turn that off as we are in the midst of an A/B test right now, and I 
   don’t know what might be screwed up if I turned the code off.
