 * Seriously? That’s it? Is this some unsupported, undocumented “feature” that isn’t
   really ready/robust yet? Is there any documentation/tutorial/FAQ on how this
   is supposed to work?
 * Ok, in order to get the FTP connection info set up properly, is there a tutorial/
   howto/FAQ for how an FTP account should be set up? Obviously not specific to
   any one FTP server, but details on what permissions and root the FTP user should
   have?
 * Thanks again,
    Jeff

 * Ah, I forgot to mention that I’m not using the FTP way of automatic upgrading.
   By setting the permissions similar to what was outlined at this site: [http://www.kgarner.com/blog/archives/2008/03/31/fix-tricks-for-plugin-auto-update-on-wordpress-25/](http://www.kgarner.com/blog/archives/2008/03/31/fix-tricks-for-plugin-auto-update-on-wordpress-25/)
   I was able to not use the FTP setup on the other two sites. It just didn’t work
   on the 3rd.

 * Do you mean the wordpress user? Or my linux user? Because all three blogs are
   on the same machine and I set up the permissions on the directories/files the
   same on all three.
    If we’re talking the wordpress user, I don’t see any option
   like that in the profile.
