 * It looks as if you need the php method fsockopen() for php to get your email.
   Some web hosts disable that function, like mine does (grrrr).

 * Aah sorry my bad. I should have searched the forums a bit more.
 * Like all the other folk here in this situation I have discovered you cannot use
   the blogger import facility if your wordpress blog is not hosted at wordpress.
   com
 * My wordpress blog is self hosted (thanks to phpnet.0lx.net!)
 * To get around the problem it wasn’t to hard:
    1. Create an empty blog on wordpress.com.
    2. Import from my blogger account into my new wordpress blog
    3. Export my new wordpress blog as xml – save it on my hard drive.
    4. Go to my self-hosted wordpress blog and import the wordpress xml from my hard
       drive
    5. remove entries from wordpress.com site and blogger.com
