I tried that and it did help – it didn’t take forever to re-load. I also deleted (temporarily) all the css I’d added to the child theme and the home page reappeared ‘live’ – but disappeared again when I restored the css. * Part of my problem is I don’t know where to look for elements I want to change. The header slogan colour, for instance, reverts to the default green when the browser is compressed to a narrow shape (and I’d like to stop the menu flipping to an icon when there’s still space for all items there). * And thanks again. I had the “Full width slider” option ticked. Unchecking it appears to solve the problem.
