 * not sure if it’s related but when I removed the widgets for the archive etc, 
   they still show up.

 * Fixed:
 * Remove the db collate in your wp-config.php that points to site url.
 * Then go settings/general/
 * and type just the name of the addon domain.

 * Fix found.
 * I had the mobile version turned on, and hence using % was overruling it.
 * I turned it off and it is now working.

 * I also am having this problem directly after using Duplicator plugin.
 * I deactivated all plugins and that did not fix it.
 * Sorry for grave digging this coundn’t find any other posts.
