    Thanks for the reply.
    It is becoming more and more strange, this morning I tried to start WordPress, just to be safe … and guess what happened, WordPress started! I checked my IP address and what did I find, the original IP was back!
    I went to Qnap to see whether WordPress installation also had come back, but it was not!
    How can WordPress run when it is not installed?
    How can a disappearing IP come back again?
    Since I now have access to my WordPress I have, as a precaution copied all my texts into a file and therefore capable to install WordPress again.
    Finally, I have found that my phpmyadmin apparently malfunctioned so I have to reinstall it..

    Hej Gerryw8,

    Also a wish for a HAPPY NEWYEAR from me to you as well as to all users of this forum.

    Regarding which to download will depend whether you have e.g. WINRAR or another similar program for unpacking.
    WINRAR can handle most of zipped files.

    If you may have other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Kind regards,
    icepirat

    Hej Gerryw8,
    I had the same problem but solved it.
    Download WP from wordpress.org unpack to folder web on the nas, remember to edit the file “wp-config-sample.php” inside then rename it to wp-config.php. see below.
    /** The name of the database for WordPress */
    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘wordpress’);

    /** MySQL database username */
    define(‘DB_USER’, ‘xxxxxxx’); your name or user name

    /** MySQL database password */
    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘xxxxxxx’); your choosen pw

    /** MySQL hostname */
    define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); usually localhost

    Remember also to install phpmyadmin and set up a database and user.

    That should be all, it worked fine for me.

    PS. Hope it’s understandable.
    PPS. You can use zip or the other as long you are able to unpack it.

    Kind regards,

    Once again thanks for great help from RossMitchell.
    Finally I made it, there is hole through and every thing is working.
    I’m not quite sure what made the different because I have been around all aspects involved but suddenly it was working.
    One thing was that I made e new Domain at NO-IP.COM pointing at my WordPress, I think that did the trick.
    I have writing down most of the setup so I can remember next time:-)

    Kind regards,
    icepirat

    Thanks again for input.
    I don’t understand your remark about missing path in DNS names, could you be kind and elaborate this like where and how?
    It was working after first installation a month ago but after I made a foul-up nothing will work my way. I think my error was that I, after reading an article about protection I tried to change CHMOD and since only problems.
    There is an built-in MySql in the NAS so all I have to do is to install PhMyAdmin and WordPress, should be simple, right, now I think I have installed them 5-10 times.
    Port forwarding? do you have a suggestion.
    Hosts file? in which program, WordPress or PhMyAdmin.
    Hostname: I have 4 options:
    1. wordpress.no-ip.info (domain which point to my IP)
    2. 87.57.XXX.XXX/wordpress (my IP direct)
    3. 192.168.0.199/wordpress (internal IP)
    4. Localhost = 127.0.0.1
    I have now strong doubts about which to use.

    Hope to hear from you again,

    Kind regards,

    Big thanks to RoosMitchell for very helpful reply, it’s working, at least for now :-).
    Unfortunately I still have another (big) problem described in my post.
    I’m able to connect to wordpress from the NAS interface with my local IP (192.168.0.199), then I can “call/log-in” to my external IP 87.57.xxx.xxx (wordpress.no-ip.info) but it’s not working.
    What do I do wrong???
    Kind regards,
    icepirat
