I was using the “Divi Forms Styler” plugin to save time. I decided to disable the plugin and manually style the form and then updated CF7 to Version 5.9.3 and now things work. So it looks like contact form styler plugins could sometimes interfere with CF7’s functionality. Thank you for your persistent assistance. Going forward I will rather spend the extra time and manually style my forms.
