 * I tried the various methods in the codex “Changing the Site URL” up to changing
   the address directly in the database. Nothing worked. After the changing the
   site url (the home url had already been changed through the original blog location
   that I had made in settings section of my WP screen), I went back and restored
   the original site url.
 * Then I went to “Moving WordPress.” I used the directions for Moving WordPress
   Within Your Site. I changed the WordPress address to the root url. When I clicked
   save, I got an error message
 * > Internal Server Error
   > The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration
   > and was unable to complete your request.
   > Please contact the server administrator, [cgiadmin@yourhostingaccount.com](https://wordpress.org/support/users/hellskitchen/replies/cgiadmin@yourhostingaccount.com?output_format=md)
   > and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have
   > done that may have caused the error.
   > More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
 * Does this mean I need to restore my database?
