I have fallen in the same trap, Last time around I did a theme update all the CSS was put back to original so as you can imagine my Website was all in disarray, this time I updated wp stats and half Million visits and stats are lost…. Very unprofessional, now thinking seriously about migrating toJoomla, Drupal or Mambo…..
