And turning off shortcodes in Jetpack does solve the issue. Posting a long comment “loses” the post comment button – it doesn’t scroll back as it should. Site wasn’t working, so I made that change to wp-config. Still not working, but when I changed wp-config back to utf8, site was working, *but* with the character issues I described above. * Happy to give you access.
