 * Great that you got it sorted.
 * unfortunately I can only change my permalink structure to /blog/postname (or
   whatever the syntax is). Which is my problem. I had /postname and cannot now
   return to it.

 * I have had much the same problem – I think if in the last line you re-write it
   as index.php instead of /brunel/index.php you may find this helps. I had a similar
   problem – which was solved by doing what I have suggested only now all my permalinks
   are classified “blog” instead of under the classifications I gave them.
 * This is terribly annoying as most of my site is now a 404 to search-engine visitors!
   Since you know a little about the htaccess file, is there anything you can suggest
   I do? At the moment in Settings/Permalinks I get the following
 *  Default [http://thecatswhiskers.nl/?p=123](http://thecatswhiskers.nl/?p=123)

   Day and name [http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog/2013/02/27/sample-post/](http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog/2013/02/27/sample-post/)
   Month and name [http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog/2013/02/sample-post/](http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog/2013/02/sample-post/)
   Numeric [http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog/archives/123](http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog/archives/123)
   Post name [http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog/sample-post/](http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog/sample-post/)
   Custom Structure [http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog](http://thecatswhiskers.nl/blog)
 * Where it used to be without “blog”. What I want is
 * Custom Structure [http://thecatswhiskers.nl/%classification*%?%Sample-post%/](http://thecatswhiskers.nl/%classification*%?%Sample-post%/)(*
   or whatever it was termed – I don’t know the specific terminology).
 * Any suggestions?

 * **I now use another forum for WordPress help.** There are forums where people

 * Have you checked that the picture can be uploaded?
 * Sometimes people don’t allow “right clicking” with the mouse which acts as a
   defense against image poaching.
 * There are work-arounds if you have experience with image manipulation.

 * Thankyou Esmi
 * You say “It’s these kinds of subtle, but important, differences that can sometimes
   make our questions and requests for exact details seem rather petty at first
   glance.” – in regard of your question about editors, you were asking the wrong
   question in my eyes. I saw **no difference** between the visual and the text
   editors. You assumed that I did, and that was one root of the problem.
 * I have used editors of this kind for decades, and never have I had a problem
   moving from the source code editor to the visual editor.
 * Nor can I imagine any sensible reason for it stripping out code in the way it
   does when moving. To me this state of affairs is astonishing.
 * That however, is not for me to judge. I need now to find an editor that will
   work sensibly with the WordPress interface so that I can get about my work and
   let WordPress organize itself in any way it chooses.

 * Thankyou Samuel. There was much that was of interest, if rather technical.
 * I think for the moment I am better off using an off-screen editor and posting
   it into the text editor later. Had I known of the problem, I would have done
   this from the start!

 * Aaron,
    do I have multiple accounts? Which is my other one? I could use that
   instead … if you wished.
 * Have you any idea why the interface annuls the changes I make? It makes no sense
   to me.

 * Thankyou Esmi. I had no idea that moving between two elements of [what appears
   to be] the same web page would have such disastrous effects!
 * When you said “different text editors” or whatever, I imagined you meant … different
   as in, well, totally different.
 * Why is it that I can move from ‘visual’ to ‘text’ on my old Seamonkey composer,
   and not in a super-advanced system like WordPress??? I am astonished! I had simply
   no idea that such a simple and obvious move would hit back with such force.
 * Does this have effects when I am composing posts too? Am I losing data unawares???
   I guess the answer is “yes”.
 * I will have to tread more carefully in WordPress now, as these land mines cost
   much time and waste a lot of effort.
 * Oh, and when posting as a senior on forums and there is a hot debate going on,
   I usually state that I am signing off for a while. It means those who can’t see
   me driving off to Utrecht will at least know I am not present on the web.

 * May I point out that the problem seems to be with the WordPress interface – or
   has to do with some kind of exception that I can manage should I know where the
   button is hidden.

 * Aaron,
 * my problem is that I would like to have posts that match the heading of the page
   that visitors can access through the navigation bar.
 * I tried sorting something out that is automatic – but haven’t gotten around to
   making up my own page templates.
 * In the mean time, I am adding links manually. The problem is that the WordPress
   interface is removing them once they are published – or when I move from “visual”
   to “text”. Has this perhaps anything to do with “moderate any comments with more
   than one link” – only these aren’t comments, they’re fully blown pages. It puzzles
   me that this should happen, as I could post as many links as I chose when using
   my hand-cranked html site.
 * I will add that I am an active member of several forums and give advice freely–
   just as long as I can help. I think this needs a little understanding.

 * Can anybody – saving Esmi – give me a hint as to what I can do about these links
   that are deadened on publishing my page?

 * Is there any answer to this problem? All I have had so far are more questions!
 * It is not looking very good, is it? The support is only to make you think that
   there is help available whist not actually answering the points involved.

 * This is using the standard WordPress interface for pages. The one you find under“
   Page”.
 * I could use a standard text editor to edit my pages of course, the problem with
   the links being disabled would probably persist once this code was pasted into
   he WordPress editor.
