 * I’m having the same issues with my Website (also in French). If it may help, 
   I can tell you this: I had produce a proofing gallery about 2 months ago and 
   it was working (Website was in French at that time also). The issue might be 
   WordPress recent update…

 * Leon, here’s an “almost” work around if you’re able to roll your sleeves, put
   your diving gear and tweak images:
    – FTP on your site and download the content
   of /wp-content/plugins/ultimate-social-media-icons/images/visit_icons (that’s
   where the hover icons are in english) – Fire up an image editor of your choice–
   Duplicate the images as a backup in case everything goes wrong – Open each image
   and modify it to covert the english text with yours then save – If you haven’t
   fainted by now, you’re good to go… : upload the modified images back on your 
   Website exactly at the same place where you downloaded your images and overwrite
   the existing one.
 * The “almost” work around is that even though you modify the icons, some pick 
   there language from somewhere else. On my site it’s a mixed of french and english…?
   So to John, if you’re able to pull the language from some icon, why not do it
   for all ! But I gotta give it you: it’s a hell of a plugin with many features,
   controls and works very well as described, kudos, BUT, there’s the language issue…

 * A follow up for other users who encounters the same issue: the fix also applies
   to _WordPress 3.9_ with _Nextgen version 2.0.61_.
 * Thanks for posting that one **ebarb**, I was considering dumping Nextgen… !
