 * I will be … Yup, there it is. I know I looked at that page and did not see that“
File Deletion” option the first two times I checked. Must be my aging brain overlooking
   the obvious. (sigh)
 * Thanks for the quick response.

 * Yes, I can edit the files and already know how to do that after several years
of working with WordPress. I can even edit them offline and upload new copies
if needed. That is not the problem. The problem is an incorrect check for permissions
as far as I can see. I would like to have that fixed so that I can recommend
   this plugin to clients.
 * I install and configure CMS sites for clients, but I am not a PHP guru by any
means. So, this error stops me from being able to use IceCaptcha for my clients
who are most definitely **_not_** comfortable with editing the source files.
If I knew where and what to edit to change the permission checks and stop this
error message, I would do that and use a modified IceCaptcha for clients.

 * Yet more information. Every other plugin or action I try as my administrator
user works without error. It is only this plugin that is causing me grief. I
have it enabled for now and am going to try to use it “as is” even though I cannot
change the settings. But I will not keep using a plugin over which I cannot control
the settings. It would really be nice to hear back from the author of this plugin.
   Thank you.

 * More information. If I try to access the “wp-admin/options-general.php?page=ice-
captcha/ice-captcha.php” from Settings on the “wp-admin/plugins.php” page, I
get the same error as above. If I use the side-bar menu under Settings > Ice
Captcha, I am able to get to the settings page. But I still cannot change the
settings from the default and receive the error above when I try.
 * A little help would be appreciated here. Thanks.

 * Okay, our site is back up ([http://blog.eracc.com/](http://blog.eracc.com/))
and is working at this point. The categories came back when a database specialist
at our host took a look at the db, noticed one of the tables was corrupt, and
fixed it. After that, the front page would load but I noticed permalinks were
broken causing a failure at the server when trying to load content. I re-saved
the permalinks settings and all was apparently fixed. I still do not know that
caused the table to become corrupt. However, I do know our host, PowWeb, was
having some MySQL back-end problems on the 11th. So likely my trying to post
an article at the time they were experiencing that problem is the culprit.

 * Well crap. Apparently our web host, PowWeb ([http://www.powweb.com](http://www.powweb.com)),
screwed things up horribly. While I was trying to fix our site they were messing
with the MySQL back-end. Now it is as if our WordPress site never existed. I
am getting the dialog to install WordPress 3.2.1 now. If they had posted a notice
that they were working on a MySQL problem I would have left things alone while
they fixed it. I was thinking the problem was on my side and apparently just
made things worse trying to fix it while they worked on MySQL. This sucks. I
am seriously considering changing hosts now.

 * I am putting our very few plugins back because when I removed them it did not
fix this. The plugins we have are ones we need to use. The plugins appear to
   not be the problem.

 * This may be related to the trouble I just experienced today on our company web
log. I posted to a different thread that I then found out was unrelated. This
is the gist of that post with some updates:
 * Something like this just happened to our company web log too. I posted a new
article and ALL the categories that had been showing up just prior to posting
the article are now GONE. The update applied today was to the Atahualpa theme.
Prior to that I had updated CKEditor for WordPress and Quick Cache. As we were
no longer using Quick Cache I deactivated and deleted it today. I also switched
back to the older Atahualpa theme and then to the Twenty Eleven theme. Still
no categories showing up and ALL of our articles are now “Uncategorized”. The
odd thing is the Category page indicates there are 34 items, but shows none of
   them. Screen capture here: [http://www.eracc.com/other/screen-shots/20111211_wp_blank_categories.png](http://www.eracc.com/other/screen-shots/20111211_wp_blank_categories.png)

 * OOPS, different problem from the OP. Ignore this. I’ll look for another post
that mirrors my problem or start a new topic.

 * Here is how to get preview images. Create your video file in either .ogv or .
mp4 and make a copy in the other format. Then capture a screen from the video
in .png format. Then name all the files the same, but using the different extensions:
 * my_video.mp4
    my_video.ogv my_video.png
 * Upload to your videos directory and call it with the short tag:
 * [video file="my_video"]
 * Once I did this with our videos, everything started working.

 * I do have a directory set up on the test site for that. The demo is showing both
ways for potential clients to see. You can see the demo page here if you are

 * Okay. So we do need to convert any video we want to use for a demonstration site.
I would normally use the command-line ffmpeg on Linux for that. But I see that
Firefogg uses ffmpeg too, so maybe I will try that first. Thanks for the suggestion.
 * Edit: Maybe not, “Firefogg 2.6.11 could not be installed because it is not compatible
   with Firefox 3.6.20.” 🙁

 * > It would be ideal if you downloaded that video and hosted it on your site.
 * Well, yes, it would. Technically, that file **is** hosted on our site. It is
just the main www.* domain which is on the same server as our test site. The
test site is just a subdirectory / subdomain off our main site.
 * The thing is, we are adding this plugin to one of our web site demonstrations
for web development with WordPress. That particular demo is for churches who
may want to put their church services on-line in text, audio and/or video format.
They would almost all be using shared hosting with limited space for storage.
The resolution we suggest is paid 3rd party hosting for video and audio content.
There are some reasonably priced options for that and they supposedly handle
   streaming one’s videos well.

 * Hmmm, trying different browsers on Linux. Firefox 3.6.x and Opera 11.50 apparently
default to “flash” and take a long time to load. The Gnome Project’s Epiphany
browser apparently handles this differently and starts playing almost immediately.
Perhaps it is HTML5 capable? It seems odd that the flash would take so much longer
since flash handlers for videos on other sites seem to be fairly quick to start
playing. Is there a tweak I am missing here?
