 * Well, I’m marking this as resolved even though it’s still a mystery as to where
all the data ended up. I have looked deeply into the first (original) sites DB
and can see portions of the data in it, although I think somehow the database
   may have become corrupted.
 * In order to make this post useful to others in future, I would like to re-iterate
a word of warning when transferring a WordPress (or any other cms) site to another
FQDM(fully qualified domain name) if I can:
 * Before you do the transfer, please make sure to remove any redirects (eg [http://www.luminoushosting.com.au](http://www.luminoushosting.com.au)-
   > [http://www.luminoushosting.com.au/blog](http://www.luminoushosting.com.au/blog))
both at the hosting level and from within the WordPress Admin itself in the settings
section. If you don’t, you may have to go into the the database and change these
manually. In this case, the redirect setup after the transfer to the new FQDM
literally locked me out from accessing the backend of the site at all. Even after
editing the url references in the database to point to the new site. In may be
worth noting that I attempted to log into the backend through the IP address
and root server url’s with no luck at all.
 * In addition; we still cant find all of the data from the previous 4 months worth
of posts! What we can find, we are reconstructing by hand.
 * Ok, enough ranting. Happy Worpressing 🙂
