 * [@utilitypole](https://wordpress.org/support/users/utilitypole/) to be fair from
reading the support thread I think that perhaps both you and Jordy lost a little
in translation and then things escalated badly from there on in. It’s easy to
forget English is not everyone’s native tongue which makes it all too easy to
get express oneself in the right tone of voice leading to misunderstanding on
behalf of both parties and in this case neither is without blame. Your frustration
and obvious anger at the situation you were experiencing was interpreted rightly
or wrongly by Jordy who took it personally. You have to agree your comment ‘What’s
going on, here?’ comment could certainly be interpreted as angry/aggressive,
   certainly not particularly constructive.
 * Personally I actually didn’t think his first response to you in the support thread
was particularly condescending it certainly was not unhelp in fact the suggestions
he made were actually very helpful and correct. I interpreted it as Jordy actually
trying to be supportive and show concern you were feeling so frustrated, whilst
attempting to convey a much better approach to the situation would be a calm
and constructive manner for your own personal wellbeing and mental state. Unfortunately
he didn’t express this very well. I then think in your stressed out state you
were overly sensitive and certainly misinterpreted what he actually had said.
Anyhow I fully appreciate thats just my personal interpretation which obviously
   differs from yours.
 * **Facts:** The plugin may be broken for you but it certainly is not broken for
99% of users or installs so don’t generalise. Checking the PHP logs is always
the first place to look, this would have enabled you to provide more specific
information to Jordy to actually help debug your issue. There might well be an
issue with your install or hosting environment. Your metadata might be corrupt,
it happens. It might well be a plugin conflict. He didn’t actually ‘shift’ any
blame towards any 3rd party plugins or themes, he merely stated that metadata
corruption can occur after installing and deinstalling many plugins and themes
which is very true. He certainly never said anything or even inferred that Bettermag
   to be ‘a less-than-optimal theme’.
 * I wouldn’t blame Jordy for being frustrated at your misleading review or from
his right to withdraw from continuing to proving you from further support. From
what I have read you never finished debugging your issue or gave the developer
a chance to assist you fully and then went on to made false statements in your
review. He stated it was a ‘waste of time’ trying to talk to you after you had
posted your review. Then you have the audacity to suggest he ‘should consider
   a more professional approach’… I am certain that a
    anyone who bothers to read
both your support thread and this review thread will also come to the same conclusion.
 * Despite what you say your posts show little understanding of how hard it is to
develop wordpress plugins and provide support absolutely free of charge. Your
attitude and actions do nothing to encourage developers to continue doing so
and only serve to damage the WordPress Community. With the greatest respect perhaps
you too should be more professional in your approach, be more patient and stick
to the facts instead of making them up.
 * Peace out.

 * [@iambriansreed](https://wordpress.org/support/users/iambriansreed/) There is
nothing wrong with the name, it does what it says to do. It renames media files
both automatically and manually (should you choose to upgrade to Pro). You may
well be disappointed and have every right to rate a plugin negatively if it doesn’t
do what it is advertised to do, the information supplied is misleading or the
technical support provided you have experienced is lacking. I think it’s fair
to say in this instance that none of these is true and I cannot help but feel
you should not have posted a review at all, negative or otherwise. Your review
   was neither informative or constructive.
 * Anyhow… if what I have said hasn’t changed your opinion and you are unwilling
to adjust your review rating accordingly then we’ll just agree to disagree. I
have nothing new to say on the matter, users who take the time to read these
reviews can make up their own minds.
 * BTW: In case anyone reading this is wondering why I have become involved it’s
simply because I use and subscribe to this plugin and who believes in being fair
and just. In this case I see a humble developer who plays an active part contributing
to the WP community being unfairly treated and their efforts taken for granted.
   Peace out.

 * [@iambriansreed](https://wordpress.org/support/users/iambriansreed/) Quite honestly
I don’t know what you think you’re asking for.
 * FACT: You CAN rename a media file with this Plugin. The free version does it
automatically the Paid version allows you to manually customise the filename.
 * It’s not rocket science, it comes down to you taking responsibility for doing
your due diligence and researching the plugin thoroughly before deciding if it
meets your requirements. If you had you would not of been disappointed. I can
only suggest you take more care next time instead of blaming someone who has
done their level best to ensure all the information you need to make an informed
   choice is available to you.
 * You have no argument.

 * Another case of someone unfairly expecting developers to provide all their time
   and resources for free. [@iambriansreed](https://wordpress.org/support/users/iambriansreed/)
be honest would you work for free? could you do a better job than the developer?
   Somehow I don’t think so.
 * It’s worth putting the relatively low fees charged by Open Source developers
into perspective. If it wasn’t for them supporting Open Source CMS’s like WordPress,
Joomla, Drupal and contributing to the Communities for these you would probably
not be able to afford to create and develope your own Websites at all.

 * [@fmonti](https://wordpress.org/support/users/fmonti/) with the greatest respect
I have to agree with the developer, your review is totally unjust and unfair.
If you had read the plugins description instead of merely ‘assuming’ it would
do what you wanted it to do you could have saved yourself the time and effort
installing it. Of course you should ALWAYS read the full description (and the
reviews and the FAQ’s) before deciding to install ANY plugin. Your inability
to do so is naive at best, at worst potentially dangerous and downright lazy.
Think about it for a minute… what would happen if you installed a plugin that
then trashed your site because either known issues had been clearly indicated
in the information provided by the developer or you had used it incorrectly.
 * Any potential user with a modicum of sense looking to research Media File Renamer
to see whether it is right for the job will read your review and come to the
same conclusion as I have. The developer has been upfront and honest about the
feature and limitations provided by the free version. Your review and rating
is invalid and should be dismissed.
 * I should also add the comparatively small fee charged to upgrade to the Pro version
is money well spent and helps the developer to provide the time and resources
to develop and support both the plugin and its users.

 * I’m running Plesk v12.x if that doesn’t adhere to Nginx recommendations then
I guess a lot of people are in trouble. I hate to say it but MaxGalleria works
perfectly. I could be wrong but my gut feel is your overlooking something. It’s
a shame there is nothing in the error logs for me to assist you in resolving.

undergone a major rewrite and there are frequent updates. Hopefully will be addressed
