 * Hi Sayan,
 * I think I have the same question as Koen.
 * Previously, on my various blog archives and category pages, if we updated an
   old blog post (which we do often) it would _not_ jump to the top of the archives/
   blog or category page.
 * But in the last several weeks or so we noticed that if we update an old blog
   post, now they jump to the top of our archives/blog or category pages as if they
   were a brand new recently published blog (that’s how they were listed before).
 * We would prefer that all of our blog archive pages list blogs by the date that
   they were originally published, not by the date that they were updated.
 * That said, we definitely still want to retain the benefit of having search engines
   show the updated date in the SERPs.
 * Does that make sense?
 * Is this just a setting we need to toggle or is there a way to get our site back
   to listing blogs by the date they were published as opposed to by the date they
   were updated?
 * Thanks!

 * Wow, awesome, great, thanks so much Sayan! I’ll check it out today! How long
   does it usually take for Google to pick up on the last modified date in search
   results?

 * I don’t know why but in following the directions you provided with the post custom
   field set to wp-last-modified the date is not pulling anything, it is just a
   blank space. Any ideas or known conflicts with other plugins?
 * Through trying to set it up like you outlined I discovered that I could pull
   the modified date with the Elementor custom post date setting, but then maybe
   with that route, I won’t benefit from the Schema markup in your plugin and search
   engines pulling the last modified instead of the published date. Thoughts?
 * Here is a link to a post if that helps at all: [https://lushpalm.com/surfing-punta-mita/](https://lushpalm.com/surfing-punta-mita/)
 * One more question. In your experience, do search engines typically recognize
   and pull the last modified date right away or does it take a few days or weeks
   for that to happen? Do you recommend having Google re-crawl/index our site?
 * Thanks again for all your support

 * Oh, my apologies, I see a lot of people ask questions and seek support for various
   themes and plugins in these forums and get excellent support and answers so I
   thought it was all good. Thanks for letting me know

 * Thanks again, Sayan. Pardon my lack of experience here for I’m just learning
   the ropes but how would that be accomplished? Can it be done pretty easily or
   is it a more complex custom function?
 * I’ve installed and activated your plugin and am using the shortcode method to
   manually add the ‘updated’ date to my custom Elementor posts. I used some basic
   CSS to match the style of my site and everything looks great.
 * But I’m still using the Elementor post meta info widget for the published date
   until I can figure out how to accomplish the EITHER/OR function.
 * Any tips?

 * Good to know, thank you. One more question I was wondering about, is it possible
   to display EITHER the published date OR the last modified date depending on if
   the post has ever been updated or not? Thanks again.

 * [@apprimit](https://wordpress.org/support/users/apprimit/) Hi, sorry I didn’t
   see your response until just not. Thanks so much for your help! That worked like
   a charm. Sorry for my lack of coding knowledge as I am just starting to learn
   and get familiar but is there a line I can add in to edit the text that is being
   displayed? I’m trying to find out how and where to do that but haven’t figured
   it out yet. I’d just like to change it to say ‘read more’ instead of ‘continue
   reading’ to be consistent with the rest of my site. Thanks again!

 * Hello, I had the exact same question about the ‘continue reading’ for the thumbnail
   style blog entry. It would definitely be nice if there was some sort of call
   to action option for that style blog entry. Is there some custom CSS that can
   be added to make that happen by chance?
