just as a follow up to my own question, if someone is looking for a similar answer…

to achieve mulitple items in a row and then drop down to the next row. Use a container div for your whole blogging space, with each individual blog item in a div that is ‘float: left; display: inline-block’. to make this compatible with IE you will need to use the ‘box model hack.’ with a little googling around you’ll find the information you need.

thank you vkaryl for the targeted search. I looked through the photoblog tuts, themes and helps… but there was a lot of info i didn’t need, this will certainly help narrow my search. I’m sure there’s some easy magical fix, hopefully i’ll indirectly come accross it.
