 * I am also having a permissions-based update error, however slightly different.
In your wp-config.php file, did you set filesystem write method? You might want
   to try:
`define('FS_METHOD', 'direct');` Also, what permissions have you set
   for your files/folders?

 * I self-host the site so there’s no issue with system loads or other users. I
have set permissions based on the WordPress recommendations, but with the update
to 4.8.3 I tried a few times and each time it would give me a file that wouldn’t
allow the update to succeed. After changing permissions on those culprit files
the update went through. However, with 4.9, as you can see from my original post,
the error is citing every file. So it seems that the new update for some reason
doesn’t play nice with the permissions I have set (which worked for the last
update): folders are 755 (except wp-content, themes, and plugins are 775), and
files are 644, except a few are 664 to allow the last couple updates and the
obvious ones are 640 or 660.
 * I was hoping that there was a simple solution to this other than just jumping
   to a manual update.

 * Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t want to manually update. I haven’t needed
to in the past and would rather wait for it to be fixed (seems like there are
   other issues with 4.9 anyway).

 * Really strange, that worked. And then I went and unchecked the ones I had unchecked
before (Mega menu, Sidr, Lightbox, and full screen mobile) and it works fine.
Maybe something else is going on behind the scenes? Anyway, thanks again for
   your help!

 * Ok, I’ve unchecked all JS scripts but the issue persists.

 * So, after the recent update, I’m having the issue again, with both mobile menu
and scroll button. I tried saving the scripts & styles in theme panel and clearing
cache like last time, but this time it’s not resolving the issue. Any other ideas?
Disabling ocean extra plugin still solves the issue, but the site doesn’t look
   cohesive without it activated.

 * Thanks for your response. I have found the culprit: Ocean Extra plugin. When
all other plugins are activated except Ocean Extra, the menu works and the scroll
   up button is back.

 * On desktop, the only way I know how to view the mobile menu is via the Elementor
Mobile/Tablet views, which don’t actually show the menu anymore. Not sure if
that’s an Elementor issue or theme issue.
