WP HTML Mail relies on the `wp_mail_content_type` filter to switch core WordPress emails (password reset, new user, …) to `text/html`, which is why those arrived as plain text while WooCommerce emails — which set their own headers explicitly — looked fine. * This is fixed in **version 4.9.8**, released today: the API send path now applies all the core `wp_mail` filters, matching the behavior of `wp_mail()` itself. Yours are the first reports of a general slowness in the backend area. Are you really sure it depends on this plugin?
