    I think I have had
   the same issue and I managed to solve it by going to the top bar on wordpress,
   where you must have by default “show all languages” (or something similar). Change
   it to danish and then you can rename the category’ slug to “necessary”. Then 
   you can go back to “show all languages” again and you should have those 2 categories
   with different names but same slug and both will be “Always enabled” on the front
   end.
