 * Okay, this issue is _partly_ solved, and it was at least partially user error
   on my part.
 * (By flipping the order of the redirect rules – putting the second one first and
   the first one second, etc. – the `/category/` redirection started to work; that
   is, the HTTP status codes of its redirects are now 301, as intended.)
 * I still can’t get the login-dependant redirects to register as 301 redirects –
   they’re still registering as 302s – but perhaps this is inherent to these types
   of redirects? (I’m somewhat of a newbie in this area.)

 * Yep, I’m having the exact same problem as mizejewski.
 * In a private blog that I administrate at work – using the P2 theme – upgrading
   JetPack to 1.8.1 has inserted the huge space in between the posting area and
   the existing posts.
 * I’m debating reverting to the last version of the plugin that worked reliably
   with WordPress 3.4.2 (1.7, I think, since it seems like people had issues with
   1.8.0?).
