 * The shortcodes are used in the #notes section of the events. i.e. I have inserted
   them into the main input box using the visual editor.

 * sorry for the slow response.
 * I have sorted the problem by unchecking the
    “The resulting HTML output of the
   table shall be cached in the WordPress database cache for faster page generation.”
   tick box
 * All seems to be working now
