Sorry, after further investigation, it wasn’t your plugin after all. It’s actually a geotagging plugin (mygeoposition.com) throwing the errors. For some reason the error is only appearing on individual event pages created by Events Manager, which is what confused me. I don’t think they are maintaining the plugin anymore, so something probably broke in an update.
Update with workaround:
Rather than using the Events Calendar widget, I tried using a normal text widget containing this code (from the EM website):
<div style="width: 250px;">[events_calendar full="0" long_events="1"]</div>
…and it works.
So, I think the earlier conclusion that this is a conflict between the EC widget and WPTP is correct. The good news is that this workaround restores full functionality in both the desktop and mobile themes.
Hopefully this will work for others if they encounter the same problem.
OK, I isolated it even further. I am using the Events Calendar Widget in a sidebar. When I remove that widget from the sidebar, the menu function returns in the mobile theme. So, I think we can say that this is a conflict specifically between the EM calendar widget and WPTP.
Did a little more work. I reverted WP to 2011 to see if there could be a theme conflict with Gantry. Had no effect. So, I would tend to rule out a 3-way problem between the desktop theme and the two plugins. This is clearly a EM and WPTP conflict.
Yes, I systematically disabled/enabled plugins to find which one(s) were causing the problem. Enabling EM locks down the menus. Disabling EMt re-enables them.
I also tried both Classic and Skeleton theme which come with WPTP. No change.
Error is in the second line. Ignore the
<strong>
tag. That’s mine. Apparently you can’t use it inside the code backticks.Yeah, I almost never use the visual editor (except maybe for simple blog posts) for exactly that reason. Also, switching back and forth between views can totally foul up your code.
However, I’ve also found on occasion (like this one) that the even the internal html editor is liable to this kind of “invisible code” problem. Particularly with cut and paste.
Thanks again!
Bizarre. Check this out.
First, I tried what you suggested – just the table – and it worked.
Then, I tried the table inside a tab – and it worked.
Then I tried both tables inside tabs – and it worked.
Then I tried carefully recreating the whole page – and it all works.
For grins, I tried copying and pasting the all the content of the old page to the new page in the WP html editor panel – it immediately broke that same table.
Finally, I reversed the process – copying the text of the new page and replacing the old page and – it works!
So, this is one of those “the WP html editor isn’t showing me something that is actually in there” problems, I think.
Thanks for the help though! That suggestion got me going!
Hi,
That’s quite bizarre.
On tab 2 (Choose an ensemble), column 3 (Details), for example, there should be line breaks between “Robust sound” and “Large repertoire” and “Suitable…”. For me, they are displaying inline, and in Firebug do not have
tags. Are you saying that you have line breaks in column 3?In columns 2 and 4 I specified widths to force-fit the lines, but I would rather just have
s and let the table auto-size.
