 * +1 on this issue. Self-hosted with JetPack and the Pinboard theme. I tested by
   switching my site to the Twenty Twelve theme and the new gallery options work
   as expected. This appears to be specific to particular themes like Pinboard and
   Oxygen. The OneDesigns site is down so I can’t report it to them right now. Looks
   like someone found a workaround for it here using a child theme!

 * That is a great question. Going through logs and backups trying to piece together
   a timeline. Almost wondering if maybe my server was compromised.

 * Oh thank you thank you thank you!
 * I started chasing a red herring looking at the role definitions assuming the 
   problem must be that no Super User role existed.
 * The original super admin account I had completely vanished from the wp_users 
   table, but a reference to the old username was still present in wp_sitemeta. 
   I switched it to the admin account that still existed, updated the array notation
   and now I’m cooking with gas!
 * Really appreciate your help. I must have stared at that table 50 times without
   seeing that.
