 * Hello, this was a large issue with the old version of WP-O-Matic, as well as
many other issues. We corrected these and re-released the plugin with premium
support so that you can get the answers you need within 24 hours, instead of
having to wait months as is usually the case.

 * Hello, which version are you using? We have released an updated version which
corrects many of the issues that WP-O-Matic had when it was still active within
   the WordPress repository.
There were issues with the old version (before we
updated it) where it would seem to go out of control like a runaway train and
create so many items, it took a long time to clean out the items that had been
   created.
 * If you are using the version we released, please contact our support team (via
the link on the description) and we will be happy to assist you.

 * Hello, I have been digging through the sites to try and make a comparison between
sites that work and sites that do not.
It seems that the sites that do not work
have used a number of SEO plugins in the past such as All in one SEO pack, Headspace
etc. A clean install seems to fix this issue. Hope this helps.

 * We noticed some strange activity when used with cloudflare. The plugin was setup
as per the instructions cloudflare provide.
    Our server includes the cloudflare
mod. So, everything is configured as it should.
 * 3 of our sites had massive volumes of errors, one site had 180’000 403 errors
   per day!
Cloudflare claimed that bad behavior was causing the issues. So we
checked the log and it showed no google IPs or cloudflare IPs.
 * So cloudflare blamed our server as causing the issue. We pulled the server logs
and saw no google IPs or cloudflare IPs that were being given any 403.
 * When we supplied stats for our server and bad behavior, cloudflare closed all
our tickets and did not address the issue further, including one ticket that
had received no reply from their staff or anyone else. We have had to resort
to contacting their press office as their support is immensely lacking (presently
14 days with no reply, tickets closed, issues ignored, questions ignored, the
   list goes on and on…).
 * The problem is that cloudflare do not know their own system. I noticed that they
made a post stating that sites with errors would be moved to IP blocks so that
Google knew they were error prone and did not base it on the IP. When I asked
their support staff about this, they claimed the opposite. I asked them to clarify
this, but they simply ignored the question repeatedly.
 * I joined cloudflare with the view of testing it and then upgrading some of our
sites to one of their paid options. However, after the support and errors we
experienced, I am now looking at moving to an alternative.

 * I have seen many of these errors which are mostly for minify, but sometimes for
page cache. I have found a lot of times that it is incorrect, but you should
check the debug output so that you can see what is really going on and identify
   any issues.
If you are getting the same error as Matt, it is likely due to the.
   htaccess not being writeable.

 * I too have had massive issues with the service. While I have been able to smush
some images, it has hardly been worth the effort due to the time involved in
playing with it just to get it to smush a few images.
 * Unfortunately, yahoo has come up with a great idea and then implemented it in
   an horrific and counter-productive manner.

 * Hello, I know it is perfectly legal, I just found it a bit odd that most of the
plugins I used from WPMUDEV seem to have came from elsewhere.
    All I wondered
was if the initial developer had been given some form of thanks for the work
that they had done with this plugin.
 * I have been a WPMUDEV member and I was not happy with their service. However,
I was very happy with their plugins and how the service started.
 * I was not attempting in any way to point fingers or smear WPMUDEV and I do not
think I did with the initial post. I was simply making a point.
 * [@gina](https://wordpress.org/support/users/gina/) B I understand what you have
quoted, but that does not mean that you use identical code does it? If there
is only one way to implement something, you simply implement it that way instead
of taking someone elses code to do the job. However, under the license, that
is perfectly legal and above board.
 * [@jason](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jason/) You said
 * > I hope they’ve (and a lot of other people) have thrown some donations to donncha,
   > wpmuguru and the other guys that have helped out.
 * I absolutely agree and that was why I mentioned it in this thread. That was my
only concern and the sole reason for opening this thread. I was not aware if
the developer knew that their work had been used.
 * [@klipari](https://wordpress.org/support/users/klipari/)

   > Best to just leave it be cause there is no talking to folks like that. His

   > I think is sad considering the great work he has done! What a shame to use
   > Donncha in this smear campaign. 🙁 His aim is to smear WPMU DEV wherever he
   > can, he has even done it on WPMU DEV as well.
   > I say let him talk, complaining apparently makes him feel better. He’s probably
   > busy penning a 5 paragraph retort as we speak. No one can make this guy happy
   > or talk reason to him.
 * You are a support member of WPMUDEV. You will know that I did complain as it
was taking 3+ days to get a reply and the person who took control of the issue
decided to refuse to talk to me at all. My points were valid and other users
backed me up on this. My subscription was cancelled before it was due to expire
   by WPMUDEV members of staff.
HOWEVER, that is not why I opened this ticket.
I opened it to ask a question and see if the dev was aware. I have not mentioned
anything negative about you or WPMUDEV and I would appreciate it if you refrained
from talking about me in a negative light.
 * I simply wanted to make a very basic point, but it would seem that this has turned
into a lot more without any input from me.
    Unfortunately, WPMUDEV staff have
shown in this ticket, the exact reason why I opened a complaint with them in
the first place. I had not intended to mention the negative experience I had
with WPMUDEV but based on your attack against my character, I was forced to.
I do not wish to talk about WPMUDEV any further as I fail to see any point. However,
I would also expect that WPMUDEV staff refrain from trying to negatively talk
about me as a customer. Is this really the way you address a customer?

 * Hello, first thing’s first, thank you for developing this plugin.
 * I have no idea why yahoo want the images processed on their server. This seems
like an odd method to force upon everyone.
I can understand that this would
be useful for users on shared hosting, but for those of us with our own servers,
we have the resources to process all of the images on our own server.
 * As a website owner, I am extremely concerned over the following terms which you
must agree to to use the smush it service:
 * > By submitting your image to the Service for optimization, you represent and
   > warrant that:
   > b) You have the written consent, release, and/or permission of each and every
   > identifiable individual person in your images to use such person’s image or
   > likeness in your image for use in the manner contemplated in these TOU;
 * So that means you can not use it on a site where the photos are of public areas
which will include pepople who have not signed a consent release agreement.
 * > d) You will not use the service in a manner that exceeds reasonable request
   > volume, constitutes excessive or abusive usage, as determined by Yahoo! in
   > its sole discretion.
 * So, yahoo can ban me if I use it too much. How to they determine this? Is it
based on IP address or domain? If it is IP address, users of systems such as
cloudflare or users with shared hosting could easily be banned when they have
not submitted all of the images themselves as the IP address will be shared between
   many, many users.
 * > 4) You retain ownership to your images submitted to the Service. However, by
   > submitting your images to Yahoo!, you hereby grant Yahoo! and its affiliates
   > the following worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable and transferable
   > rights and licenses: To temporarily host, cache, store, or modify your images
   > to appropriate media formats, standards or mediums as part of the Service.
 * So, to use the service, I have to grant yahoo a license that essentially allows
them to do whatever they want with my photos. While I understand they need a
license to store it on their server even if only for the processing time, the
license that they are actually demanding would allow them to sell my images,
use them elsewhere or do whatever they desire to do with them. If any of them
are used elsewhere, the privacy of users who have family blogs could be violated.
For businesses, it could mean content dilution if the images appear elsewhere
   on the internet.
 * The terms further state that yahoo are not held liable or responsible for any
damages or loss of earnings. This is absolutely standard for almost any business.
However, what is concerning is that when this is coupled with #4, it means that
should yahoo use your images in some way that negatively impacts you (and they
could even make money from it), then you have almost zero comeback.
 * [http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/smush_it/smush_it-4378.html](http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/smush_it/smush_it-4378.html)
 * Is there any reason why yahoo want it done on their server? I assume that the
process is not unique to yahoo and as such can be reproduced on the server side.
I have started converting the images on my pc so that they are already reduced
   in size before uploading them.
 * Also, I wanted to point out that while this plugin is awesome, it only works
on images in the media library, it would be lovely if it could search the plugins
and themes folders for images that can also be improved upon as that is usually
where the majority of images are from as they form the design and are on every
   single page of the site.
 * Sorry it’s such a long reply, I just wanted to mention a few of the things that
I do not think many people realise and try to see how the plugin can be improved
   upon.

 * [@esmi](https://wordpress.org/support/users/esmi/) that is not what the repository
rules state. While you can have links, you must not add them “without explicitly
asking the user’s permission”. Unfortunately, this plugin does not do this.
 * I came here today as I was sent an email saying that David Law had added a reply
in which he said that you can remove the code that generates the link. What I
found shocking was that the action used was “yd_wpmuso_linkware”. Linkware?
