Thanks for the fast response! I had to look it up as I didn’t add that form, but it appears to be a Mailchimp form pasted in as a custom HTML block. So if I need to add a class or ID to the form, I can do that.
(Should have done this before writing, I know)
I have narrowed down the problem. I had toggled on the Spectra option to load Google fonts locally. Turning that off allowed the GF AJAX to work.
So, the conflict is somewhere between Spectra’s Google font loading, and GF’s AJAX form submission.
Hi Anik,
That’s not really true though. If I go to a specific blog post in Chrome or Safari, using the back button takes me to whatever paginated spot I was in before, not necessarily the first page of paginated posts. It’s only on Firefox that I always return to the first page.
I did turn off Ajax pagination, but if Firefox worked the same as Chrome, it would work perfectly.
Hey, sorry for the delay. The video skips a step — I would go to an individual post, then use the back button — but the problem also exists on Firefox just on the paginated Posts page.
I did narrow it down to a potential plugin conflict with one of several plugins. For reasons specific to our installation though, it will be very difficult for me to narrow it down further than that, so instead I just turned off Ajax pagination; pagination with reload works fine.
I can’t be sure but I suspect one of our Pro plugins is the culprit, because I added all the free plugins to a second installation and didn’t get the Firefox issue. The Pro plugins I haven’t fully tested against are:
- Gravity forms pro with Constant Contact and reCAPTCHA extensions
- Modula Gallery Pro with Video extension
- Smush Pro
But there’s another dozen or so plugins, or a combination of plugins, that I can’t rule out.
Thanks for your response, but I think for now we’re just going to stick with regular pagination.

In reply to: [Spectra - WordPress Gutenberg Blocks] Selecting multiple blocks freezes pageSo this problem is back. This time, on a different site. I tried doing all of the same things:
- updated Spectra to the newest version
- regenerated assets
- cleared the server cache
- did a clear cache & reload on the editor page
But this time it didn’t fix the problem. Every time I select multiple container blocks, the page hangs so completely that I can’t even navigate away from it until the browser times out. I can select one container at a time (even if it contains other containers), and I can select multiple blocks that aren’t containers, but I cannot select two or more container at the same level of hierarchy. It also seems to be page-specific, broken on one page and working on another. I’ve hard-refreshed the broken page numerous times, to no avail.
What else can I try?

In reply to: [Spectra - WordPress Gutenberg Blocks] Selecting multiple blocks freezes pageHi, thanks for the quick response.
I tried your steps one at a time. Regenerating the assets alone didn’t do it, but once I added the Clear cache & hard reload, it started working again.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Constant Contact Forms] Ajax submission does not workMany thanks! I just made this change and I’m now able to subscribe with or without a + in the email address.

In reply to: [Constant Contact Forms] Ajax submission does not workI’m fairly comfortable working in PHP (much less so in Javascript).
As long as it’s not going to just get overwritten in the next autoupdate in a way that reintroduces the same bug, I’m willing to try this.

In reply to: [Constant Contact Forms] Ajax submission does not workHi, I’m wondering if there’s any idea when a fix for the + in email addresses issue might be available. My client would like to launch by the end of the year but if that issue isn’t resolved yet I’ll have to find another solution. Thanks.

In reply to: [Constant Contact Forms] Ajax submission does not workSpent some time Googling and it appears this is the issue:
The email isn’t encoded before being passed as a query string, therefore, no email with a + sign in it will work.
Thank you for spending the time to help me debug this. I will note for what it’s worth that Mailchimp doesn’t seem to have this issue, so I’m sure there’s a way to make those email addresses work.
Thanks again!

In reply to: [Constant Contact Forms] Ajax submission does not workOk… I changed WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY to true, did a clear cache/hard reload and submitted the form again but I just realized I did one thing different: this time I didn’t change the email address to include a test designator. Normally I’d submit something like:
myname+test1@gmail.com
But when I tried it with just myname@gmail.com it worked.
I tried it with the +test1 again, and nothing happens. So it appears that adding the “+test1” to my address is what’s breaking it. I do this all the time with other forms and it works — using the + is a valid use of gmail — so any idea why it’s breaking the submission?

In reply to: [Constant Contact Forms] Ajax submission does not workUPDATE: found the debug.log file (in a different directory than I expected)
It *did* log the intentional fatal error I introduced. So it is logging errors. That is the only error logged, so neither loading the page with the Subscribe form not submitting the form is logging any errors.
