 * I’m experiencing a similar problem.
    When editing the capabilities for a Role,
   the Deny was checked for the basic Read capability. I need to Grant the Read 
   cap. So I uncheck Deny, and check Grant, then save, it just reverts back to Deny
   being checked and Grant unchecked. The user role can not access `/wp-admin` anymore.
   I can not resave the the settings to grant the read cap.
