 * I had a similar experience with Network Solutions. I forgot to renew my registration
   only to find it had been purchased by (effectively) Network Solutions.
    Fortunately
   they were willing to sell me my former domain (clarkfarley.com) for something
   like $1500. lol Given how many other people on the planet would really want such
   a domain name, I choose to wait a year when it expired again and bought it for
   the normal $34.95 or whatever the price is…
 * It might have been a fluke event, but it seems that your (former) domain name
   may have more value on the open market.
