 * i am also having this issue, this is the only other mention i can find of it 
   so far!
 * it only happens when i create custom thumbnails, but all of a sudden it’ll put
   in a break in odd spots-
    for example, if there are 10 images in a row, it’ll
   display 10, then 1, then 10, then 1, etc. but if i re-create the thumbnails to
   the automatic cropping, it goes away and displays normally (10, 10, 10, etc).
 * changing the number of columns in the gallery settings hasn’t helped- it does
   change the spacing, but the number of thumbnails per line (10,1,10,1) does not
   change.
 * i’ve investigated the z-index element, but i don’t know much about z-indexes 
   and what i was able to find in the code didn’t seem related to this gallery sorting
   issue.
 * would love to hear from anyone else who was able to work around this.
