 * Hi all. I figured out the solution here. I realized later that I had the homepage‘
page attributes’ set to Grid. Changed it to ‘full width’ which removed the featured
   pages grid.

 * Thanks for taking the time to reply. That’s the one.
 * I’m still new to WP, and I recall now that I ran into this issue last year with
another project and a different theme.
 * It doesn’t make sense to me that from my .org WP dashboard (exploring JetPack
themes) that it would even show themes that really only function well on a wordpress.
   com site.
 * they should only show the themes that work optimally on a .org site like mine.

 * Correct. I found the CSS code to remove the ‘read more’ links. What I’m trying
to figure out is how to have it not show so much of the text from the child page.
Can I change the size of that area beneath the feature image thumbnail? Or can
I set the number of characters to a lower number?

 * I think I get it now. The child pages are what populate the ‘grid’ beneath the
main content area. I thought that was a footer of some kind, and since I hadn’t
set a featured image on any of the child pages it didn’t look like the demo.

 * Thanks very much for your help! Yes, it would be great if there were separate
instructions for .com versus .org users. For someone who is new to WordPress,
it has been very confusing to view live demos of various themes, and then not
see anything related to those instructions in my .org cms interface. And it’s
not just Edin that has that problem, by the way. It seems that instructions for
most of the themes that I have seen are directed at .com users. Now that I know
this is the case, I can adapt. Appreciate the guidance.
