   only comment based on my personal experience, but I did not have any issues with
   content being lost. Everything was in tact after the manual update via FTP. I
   did do a full backup before I changed anything, and I would suggest you do the
   same. Good luck!

   me, too! I was having all kinds of weird errors and issues and updating to 4.2
   fixed them all.
 * If you are a WP rookie and generally don’t understand how all the back-end stuff
   works (like me!), here’s a quick tutorial on how to update WordPress via the 
   FTP.

   suggestion:
 * _In GoDaddy: File Manager, wp-content, privacy, uncheck inherit and make sure
   read write is checked._
