In my case, I narrowed it down to the NGG slideshow not displaying as soon as I switch to a page with a sidebar option, be it a blog page or page template with the sidebar option. I tried it the perennial unisnt plugins routine and other tricks, but the problem still persists. I keep uninst/ re-inst Flash and java on all my browsers, but still no dice – the issue occurs on IE, Firefox and Chrome, plus the problem can be intermittent and erratic. Very difficult to troubleshoot. In my case, as I left town last week, I did a shutdown of my computer. Daily virus checks were performed as well (with 2 diff virus apps) before I shutdown and left town. After my return, I performed 2 V checks since last night and no malware items were found (it’s not to say that maybe there still might be something hanging around, I can’t confirm that?). needless to say that Godads removed the malware in my case. They were not forthcoming with any information concerning the security breach problem (on their end no less). I expect my web hosting provider to include security as par of the service cost I paid for. Any suggestions as far as more dependable hosting outfits that are more sympathetic to WP sites are concerned, pls let me know. * Tigerscratch: I cannot see your problem on my end when the site is viewed via Chrome or Firefox on a PC. No apologies, of course. The support dude also put the blame on my WP plugins (which I don’t think was the case in my situation as I had not updated anything in over a week) and on my theme (i.e. Photocrati). I cannot confirm the latter though. There is no current Pcrati update available (next one is entering the beta stage). So that eliminates the malware possibility from my end. My site is hosted by Godaddy and I suspect the hack was done on that end. Thanks for your replies. I was going absolutely nuts working into the early hours of the morning trying to solve this issue. * Remember this: Java had to issue an emergency fix for jv due to the well know security breaches in the SW. In my case, Photocrati (as with most other folks) was behind the curve and are working diligently to create a patch fix for their community of users. However, in my situation a simple addition of two ‘comment out’ characters fixed my dropdown problem. Here is Photocrati’s post concerning the issue: __________________ We are aware of a sudden loss of functionality with drop down menus and gallery sections in some theme versions as a result of a global update to JQuery 1.9 which occurred late in the day on January 15th, and are taking steps to correct it as we speak. As soon as we have a solution we will be emailing all users, as well as posting to social media and on our blogs. We do apologize for any inconvenience, and are working to correct this issue as swiftly as possible. As a temporary solution, you can go to your WordPress files via FTP or through your web hosts admin area / CPanel, and make your way to: wp-content > themes > photocrati-theme > header.php (**theme names may vary slightly – be sure to work within your active Photocrati theme if you have multiple instances**) open the header.php file, and comment out lines 169 and 170 by adding// to the front. change this… wp_deregister_script(‘jquery’); wp_register_script(‘ jquery’, (“http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js”), false,”); to this… //wp_deregister_script(‘jquery’); //wp_register_script(‘jquery’, (“http:// ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js”), false, ”); This should resolve the issue, and we will have a more permanent solution as quickly as possible.
